I had to teach Spinning today without any music. It was hard to do but still ended up being a good workout. The cabinet with the stereo was locked and I had the code right but it wouldn’t unlock for me. I felt really bad for the people in my class but they were all good sports and stuck around.
During the weekends, it’s really easy to get your eating schedule off like I mentioned in my blog yesterday. I woke up later and so all of my meals were later than usual. 4pm hit and it was time to eat lunch which seemed really off. So I combined my afternoon snack with my lunch and still kept it healthy.
Overall, I felt really proud of myself this weekend for eating healthy, getting good workouts in, and resisting temptation. There were times when I wanted to drink or eat out and had the opportunity to and it was hard for me not to give in. I really wanted to but I tried to keep thinking forward at my long term goals and I realized they’re never going to happen if I don’t cut things like that out as much as possible. Resisting to eat certain things and drink are a huge challenge for me and very hard. I hope that I can continue to make the right choices for the next few weeks to come.
The Truth about Fruit
I don’t know if anyone has heard or read similar things but I have heard that there are better times to eat fruit than other times. This is something that I found on the internet that is an example of something I have heard before:
“The best time to consume fruits is in the morning as part of breakfast or during the course of the day. Fruits contain celloulose which is undigestible by the body therefore if you consume it in the day, it gives your body time to absorb the needed vitamins and then you can deficate the useless parts”
Interesting. But is it true? Does it really matter if you end up eating fruit later in the day or as part of your dinner or maybe even for desert? I did a little snooping on the internet to find out what other people thought and if there was any data or research on the matter. I wasn’t able to find anyone who has researched or tested this so if you’re reading this and happen to know of any research that has been done, please let me know I would be very interested in reading about it. There are many opinions on this it seems so this is definitely a debatable matter.
Some people claim that the above insert is true and that they have actually found (with themselves) that if they eat fruit later in the day or at night, they don’t lose weight compared to if they eat it earlier in the day. Others have stated that fruit is very healthy for you so eat it whenever you damn please.
My opinion: I think that the above insert makes sense to a degree. Since fruit does have natural sugars and celloulose it probably does make sense to have your body absorb what it needs and get rid of what it doesn’t. However, I also think that if you had to pick between an unhealthy snack or desert and a piece of fruit and it happened to be later in the day, go with the fruit. It’s an interesting topic and I’m curious to find out more.
